In the light of increasing regulatory demands on the use of medical devices (MD) and advanced therapeutic medicinal products (ATMP), the EU funded BIORIMA project has taken a lead in developing an integrated risk management framework for the safe handling of nano-biomaterials (NBM) used in these medical applications. For the first time, it will be possible to assess and manage various risks that may arise from manufacturing and use of these novel materials along their life cycle and beyond clinical risks.

Dr Saurabh Lal won Heinz-Mittelmeier Research Award 2018
Dr Saurabh Lal, research fellow at LEEDS University, working on the Safe-by-design of replacement joints and new wear testing methods and standards, has won the prestigious € 5,000 Heinz-Mittelmeier Research Award 2018.
1st Edition BIORIMA Training School
The first edition of a series of Training Schools took place in the historic centre of Venice, Italy on 16 – 20 April 2018 hosted by Ca'Foscari University of Venice and GreenDecision. The school aimed to transfer the State-of-the-Art knowledge on a variety of topics from key experts to the new generation of nano-environmental, health and safety, and biomedicine professionals. The lectures were held in Aula Mario Baratto at the Ca' Foscari Palace and Sala Giovanni Morelli at the Palazzo Malcanton Marcorà.
